Jaye was appointed to the Freehold Borough Council in June 2006.  It was an historical appointment.  Jaye was the first member of the African American Community to serve on the governing body. Jaye currently serves on the Public Safety and Personnel Committees.  In January 2016, Jaye became Council President.  In March 2012, Jaye was instrumental in the creation of the Freehold Borough Youth Council.  In 2011 Jaye also served on The Freehold Borough Board of Education’s Strategic Planning Committee.  Jaye is also a member of the Centra State Medical Center’s Legislative Affairs Committee.  He is also a member of the New Jersey League of Municipalities Emergency Preparedness Committee.  Jaye is also a member of the Monmouth County Crime Stoppers Board.  In March 2016, Jaye was appointed to serve on the newly appointed Freehold Redevelopment Committee.

Jaye has served on the Freehold Borough Recreation Commission, The Freehold Community Drug Alliance, and The Freehold Borough Human Relations Committee. Jaye previously served as Council Liaison to the Freehold Borough Human Relations Committee, Municipal Court, Library Commission and Code Enforcement. 

Jaye is employed by the County of Monmouth, Health Department. He previously worked as a fire dispatcher for the Freehold Fire Department and as a police dispatcher for the Freehold Borough Police Department.

He is a member of the Freehold Fire Department, Good Will Hook and Ladder Company, where he held the positions of Captain, Lieutenant, President and Secretary. Jaye is currently the Fire Department’s Secretary. He coached for the YMCA/Borough Recreation Basketball League and served as a coach and umpire for the Freehold Borough Little League.   

Jaye went through the Freehold Borough Schools, attending the Park Avenue Elementary and the Freehold Intermediate School and graduated from Freehold Borough High School in 1993 as Senior Class President. 

Jaye’s commitment to his community is evident. Jaye vows to work hard to make a difference for his hometown. 

I have decided to run for reelection again because I believe there is still much work to do in Freehold Borough. I believe in our residents and development of our town. Our rich diversity and history is what makes Freehold Borough great.

Jaye was born and raised in Freehold Borough.  He is 41 years of age.  He is the son of Eva Sims and is the youngest of 4 siblings, Pamela A. Sims-Jones, Geraldine Sims and Reginald Sims, all of whom grew up in Freehold.  Jaye and his wife Danielle live in his hometown because they believe in Freehold and its future.  In May of 2011, Jaye and Danielle became the parents of beautiful twin girls, Mackenzie and Madison.
